Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
Child support midification
My ex wife has petitioned for a modification of support. She makes 2x the salary as I do. At our initial divorce settlement it was agreed that in liew of actually court ordered support would pay a percentage of uncovered medical bills, school needs and contribute monthly to a college fund for each of my daughters. One is now 19 and the other 15. I have been ordered to pay support now (for whatever reason). If this modification is granted does that superceed the original arrangements?

Re: Child support midification
Child support is always subject to review and, if a change of circumstances has occured since the last order was entered, the obligation can be modified. The original order no longer has any effect, at least as to the amount of child support or other obligations that were amended.
Re: Child support midification
The answer to your question is yes, it may well be in addition to your prior agreement.
