Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
Children and their education?
My ex Girlfriend has legal care of our 5 year old son. His birthday is 9/9/98 and he was, up until recently in school, but when he visits my dad, he tells them how he isnt in school because mommy moved back in with her boyfriend. I am very concerned with my litle boys education and was wondering if this was a law? We have never been to court for custody, or anything. However, as soon as I get home from Iraq, I plan on seeking custody, especially if my sons future is on the line.
Any information would be most helpful.

If there is no custody agreement or court order in place, you have no significant ability to object to how the child is being raised. Although children are supposed to be educated generally it is difficult to see how you could intervene effectively from overseas.
