Contested Divorce

My husband left my two minor children and myself in January. He moved nearly 1200 miles away and is insisting on child visitation with our 4 year old. Also, making it impossible to get divorce proceedings going with the distance between us. He IS supporting our two minor daughters BUT I want a divorce. How do I go about getting it ASAP? This is a very complicated situation and I have no momey to pay for an attorney.he won't agree to anything.

You can file here in Iowa if you're a resident-usually that means you've been here a year. Our courts have jurisdiction in such cases. You will need the assistance of an attorney to advocate for you in any property and custody settlement. You can perhaps get assistance from the legal aid society or the ISBA volunteer lawyer's project.
