Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

My ex who has been convicted of domestic assult against me. He is know to hang around dangerous people and is wanting to have our son every other weekend. Is it illegal to just move away and "hide" from him and ignore him and his attorney completly? Or am I forced to go to court and fight for custody.

The main question is do you have a custody and support agreement in place? If not that's where you start.
