Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
How do we get a deadbeat to pay support.
My wife has two children,7$4,both born to the same man out of wedlock, paternity is established. He was in a serious motorcycle accident some years before & suffered head trauma & had to relearn many basics over again.he was off disability by the time their first child was born.He is working now(trucking)for a company out of state, but we do not know who.Garnishment of wages seems impossible.he has seen the children once & has talked to them by phone once in 7 months. we try to get him in court but his sister-in-law attorney got a continuance. Why? how? how do we get this guy in front of a judge? everytime we try he sends a 10 or twenty dollar check and every one says" he made an attempt to pay something" and they are happy. He lives obviously well for a guy who can't keep a job due to head trauma and he seems to have one unless my wife gets enough information to garnish his wages then he quits because of his terrible injury.

Each state has an agency that will collect child support. I find that these agencies are
the best way to collect support between two states. Find what agency does this in
your state and request services.
