Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
death, home, rights
my husband and I have been marrried 4 years. He made a will about 6 months before we got married and left me everything of his, in the will it has my maiden name, we never changed it after we got married does this matter?
also he owned his home be for we got married, my name is not on it , but it states in his will that it goes to me do we need to change this and add my name or is it ok the way it is will i get it anyway. neither of us have any children. throught the wills we have directed all that we have to each other upon death.
thank you.
He does have 2 siblings not listed in the will .do they have any legal claims on anthing eventhought they are not listed anywhere

Re: death, home, rights
If his will is otherwise properly executed you can file a codicil that amends it to reflect your married name. You do not have to do anything with respect to the home as he has willed it to you. Otherwise you have dower rights and can elect against the will if possession of the home were to be contested or if your husband died intestate. The siblings have no claim.
