Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Do they determine the amount of child support just by the # of kids & my salary or does the person who wanted the divorce have any merit? I make over $12,000 less per year than my spouse who also gets bonuses & commission where i dont. Ex: my salary approx $28k, hers start at 39k not including quarterly bonus & commission. Also, based on info could you tell me what my amount of child support would be for 2 kids, one 3 and one almost 6? Thanks!

Support is determined by the use of the uniform child support guidelines. There are a number of websites that have calculators that you can use. Merely google "Iowa child support guidelines" and you'll find the ones I did. Of course you should check the results against the hard copy in the Iowa Rules of Court. section nine at : http://www.legis.state.ia.us/Rules/Current/court/courtrules.pdf
