Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Divorce and Bankruptcy

I have been married to my husband for two and a half years. He walked out and left me with the bills. Prior to marrying him I had a great job that payed well, purchased my own home and bought a car. The house and car are in my name. When I married, (together) we accumulated nearly 40 grand in credit card debt. Because of my excellent credit and his lack of, the cards are in my name only. I maintained a FICO score of 768 for twenty years up until recently when I had to file bankruptcy because of the credit card debt I could not pay. I was devastated as I feel credit is very important. My husband has a great paying job and did not have to take the hit like I did and has offered NO support whatsoever. I had quit my job after I married but found employment immediately after he left, however; the pay is nothing like I was used to. If I want to keep my job I must go back to school to get certified. I would like to ask for rehabilitative support to go back to school. I also feel he should have to pay because I had to file bankruptcy and he walks free with no obligations. What is your opinion please?

Re: Divorce and Bankruptcy

The obvious question is what was agreed to in the custody and support agreement or the divorce decree, and you haven't told me that.
