Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I have been divorced for over 10 years. Our decree states that my ex will pay for health coverage for our now 16 year old son. Anything not covered by medical insurance would be split between us. This was not an issue until recently. Last year, my ex and his current wife decided to choose a high deductible plan for their family. When my son injured himself in a wrestling tournamant, they decided to take him to an ER. However, they had not met their deductible. They are demanding that I pay half of that bill, even though they have not met their family deductible for the year and insurance did not even kick in. Am I required to pay this?

You already answered your own question. The custody and support agreement says that he pays for health care but if the expense is not covered it's divided in half.
