Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

emancipation of a minor child and support payments

my seventeen year old daughter wants to live with her older sister and I am wondering if she should be legally emancipated to protect myself against any legal action or responsibility on my part should she get in a situation where litigation would come into play, and if her father wants to continue paying support payments to my daughter directly or to her older sister for the minor's care, what legal action needs to be taken

Re: emancipation of a minor child and support payments

If your daughter goes to live with her sister, then you should give the sister guardianship over her. Support payment can then be sent to her sister directly. Feel free to contact my office for further consultation.
