Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

My ex-husband has filed Order Rule to Show Cause and Application for Modification & Contempt on me. I live in Sioux Falls, SD and he lives in Council Bluffs, IA. My ex-husband currently has physical custody of our two children. I have been unable to pay child support for the last year due to my fighting for disability. I have been fight with Fibromyalgia. My question is, how am I able to get an extension in Iowa on the court date, so that I have more time to either come up with money for an attorney to take my case or find an attorney that will take my case pro bono. I was given just over 2 weeks for a court date and have been trying to sell my vehicle ever since.

You need to file a motion for a continuance with the district court and serve the parties involved.
