Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
My ex-wife and I have been divorced for 3 years, we have 1 son (now 5 years old) and it was ordered in the divorce decree to have shared custody. It does not have a specific schedule that we are to follow. Two years ago she moved 2 hours away and out of state so I have only been getting him every other weekend. She recently moved back into Iowa and I am moving into the same county next month to be closer to my son and actually have him equally. She has been in the process of trying to get child support and I believe she will fight me on wanting him every other week. What would be my best course of action to ensure that I have the shared custody with my son that is already ordered? And will our temporary agreement between us from her moving hurt my chances if she seeks full custody?

You're going to need to negotiate a visitation schedule since it seems as if you two don't agree on what it should be. I do not see the issue of child support as determining, but if you are not paying support you can more or less kiss the other stuff goodbye. I would contact an attorney to handle this for you.
