can you file for visitation of a minor child without filing for divorce in the state of iowa?

If you have never been married you can. On the other hand if you are married but living apart you have to get a custody, support and visitation order in place which is about 80 per cent of a dissolution action. If you're grandparents that's another problem entirely.
