Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

i have a friend she has a dughter that is 16 going to be 17 in a few months but her daughter lives with her ex-husband he has the primary care with my friend and him have joint costudy well my friend has tried everything there is to try and help her daughter get away from her ex well..to no avail no one will help my friend and her daughter now her daughter is planning on running away to go to her moms house what would happen if her daughter does run away and goes to her grandmothers house(my friends moms house) what can happen to her mom or daughter since they have joint costudy until my friend can get to her daughter? we really need help
