Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

There is a gentleman here in Iowa that was married for 7 years- no children. He and his wife got a divorce. When the signing of the papers came due, the wife was asked if there was a possibility that she was pregnant, she said no and signed this under oath. Four months after the divorce decree was signed, she then called her ex husband and told him she had a baby and it was his. He drove from Iowa to Florida and moved the wife and baby up to Iowa with him. She lived here with him to try to rekindle the marriage. She then decided to move herself and the baby back to Florida while he was gone to work, and told him the baby was not his. Three years later, he received a notice for child support. He demanded a paternity test, the test results revealed that there was a 94% chance that the baby was his. So, he then was ordered to pay 1000.00/mo. Child support. 450.00 for child support, 350.00 for day care and 200.00 for back child support. The judge ordered back child support to start from birth which meant he now owed over 30,000.00 for back child support + current support. He was told that it would be tough to get visitation of a child that does not know him and lives so far away. He was denied association. Now, a co-worker told him there are kidnapping laws. Would this be considered kidnapping? He got a call Monday from his ex-wife telling him that the little boy is 5 and is not potty trained and that it would help if he would be involved in his life. It came across as she is tired of being mommy and was advertising him as a person would in a want ad. The child is under growth on the growth curve and he is questioning the nurturing- possibly the cause of the under size and potty training issue. What kind of rights does he have? He cannot afford the retainer that attorneys are requesting due to the cost of living and child support. Also, he does not get any tax credits for him. He paid 2 years of day care for this little guy and he was not in day care, he just found out. Please advice on the best avenue for him to pursue.
