Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

A girl who is 16 years of age (Amy) had a baby with her boyfriend (Mike) who is 18 years of age. Mike's mother invited the couple and their baby to visit her for a few days at her house (an hour away).

The couple went to Mike's mother's house, and Amy's mother became distraught about this and called the police to recover Amy and the baby. The police recovered Amy but not the baby or Mike since he was the father and 18 years of age, Who also had Amy's permission to take the baby.

Amy's mother then had the police return and recover Mike and the baby and returned them to Amy's mother's house.

Is this a general legal action?

Can Amy become emancipated? (She receives 1700.00 a month in annuity from her fathers death.)

Was anyone's rights infringed upon?
