Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
My ex girlfriend who has my 3 year old son is being investigated for child neglect. She is currently living with her grandmother, last night she took my son and left in the middle of the night to go to "we are thinking arizona" because that is where her online boyfriend lives. DHS and police are looking for her. I have no custody arrangement and no visitation rights. Will she go to jail for this?? What will happen to my son if I do not wish to obtain custody??

She will not go to jail, because since you have no custody and support agreement it will be hard for anyone to be charged with parental abduction. If you do not want to take custody of your child that child will be placed with a relative if one can be found. If she left ahead of a child abuse investigation and a CINA case is opened they'll probably send someone to Arizona and bring the child back.
