grandparent custody laws

my mother recently began to try to take my daughter from my custody due to personal family issues, myb question is does my mother have any legal rights to her grand-daughter, my daughter?

a grandparent does not have any rights that are better than a mere stranger when it comes to custody issues concerning a grandchild.
