Guardianship In Iowa

I currently live in Colorado. My mother has my 2 children in Iowa and I belive has guardianship. She has had my children since September 4, 2005. I never signed any papers or went to court but that is what she tells me. I want my children here with me in Colorado but she is completely non-compliant. I want to know more such as what her having guardianship entails and what my rights are. Can I just go get my children?

What is the basis of her saying she has guardianship of the children? You haven't told me enough to give a proper answer.
