I have been married for 7 years. I have owned and lived in this house for 30 years. My husbands name was only put on the house 7 years ago. I want a divorce. Can I keep him from taking my home?

A court will typically divide property acquired during the course of the marriage but things that were yours before the marriage remain yours. However, since his name has been on the title for seven years, he has a substantial interest in it, particularly if you and he have been making payments jointly.
