Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
My soon to be ex husband called in a welfare check on my two daughters, 9 1/2 and 5 because I left them alone for a couple of hours one night while they were sleeping and after I had checked on them. Now there is a child abuse investigation started against me. I feel this is an effort by him to use something against me in the custody hearing. Do I have to meet with a DHS case worker? Do I have to have my daughters there? Should I have an attorney present?

If there's founded case you have to follow the procedure and cvomply with DHS requests unless you want more trouble than you already have. Hire an attorney but be aware you're not entitled to a court appointed attorney unless and until a CINA case is initiated down the road.
