Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
i have kicked my husband out of our home. he has a gambling problem. i have closed our joint accounts but i know there are still checks out to check cashing places. will i be liable for these and will i be liable for what he does from here on out since we are still married. do i need to file legal papers in order to protect myself immediatly.

If the accounts were joint, you're on the hook for the checks that are outstanding. The only way you can get out from under joint liability is through dissolution of marriage and that doesn't clear you until it is final. You closed the accounts, and I would recommend you close every credit card account that you have.
