Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

kidnaping

I have visitation rights to my daughter in Iowa. My ex-girl friend moved three years ago with her. I have no idea where they are. Her mother knows where she is but won't tell me. I am current on child support. It is taken right out of my disabilty check. I hear that my ex is trying to say that I abandon my daughter. She then wants to take my name off the birth certificate so that her boyfriend can adopt her. He is still married to a different lady. What are my options????

Re: kidnaping

What you need to do is hire a family law attorney and file a motion for rule to show cause....this is a contempt action, and a motion to enforce the provisions of the divorce decree. You did not say what state your decree was in, but if it was in Arizona it is going to be a lot easier for you to do if you file first in your home state.
