What is the best legal course to amend a current custody agreement between two consenting parties? Could a single attorney represent both sides? What would be the approximate billing hours related to such a case?

First answer is it's a bad idea because the potential for a claim of a conflict of interest is high. That doesn't mean somebody won't do it but that somebody wouldn't be me. I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to what it might cost.

under Iowa law a single attorney cannot represent both parties. It would be unethical. However one party could hire attorney representation and the other party could potentially represent themself. The attorney would need to be clear about which person they represent and I always as the party I don't represent to have their lawyer review the documents.
