Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Is it legal for my boyfriend to video and audio record me and my children in the house we share together? A couple of months ago, he set-up multiple recording devices and even though I have expressed multiple times that I do not agree to any of it, he records all of our actions. He has even recorded our intimate moments without my knowledge or consent. He states that since this was originally his house (we rent it from his parents and my children and I moved in 4 years ago) that he has every right to record whatever he wants. If I try to leave him, he says he plans on trying to turn these recordings in to the police to have my children removed from my custody and to get me locked up.

I was going to say it's smarmy but legal all the way up until your last sentence.

That's extortion and it is a class D felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
