Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

What legal rights do I have as a grandparent?

What can I do to get visitation rights with my grandson? I have no restraints against me. It is controlled mainly by the other grandparent along with my daughter. I watched my grandson for nearly two and a half years along with my parents taking part in caring for him. He is five now.

The answer is short and plain. Grandparents do not have any rights with respect to their grandchildren. Anything you get is by permission of the parent having custody.
