Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

How Long Before Warrant is issued?

My ex-husband is being charged with contempt on avoiding to be served. They couldn't serve him with the contempt papers because he was also avoiding that. (duh) Anyway I know the next process is to issue a warrant for his arrest since they can't serve him. How long after the service notice is returned for failure to serve is a warrant issued?

I would expect that when he does not appear at the hearing that is set on the contempt-avoidance of service that you can ask the court to issue an arrest warrant right then and there. I think that if I was your attorney I would subpoena the person doing the service attempt to give testimony to the court.
