Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I was married in the state of South Dakota. I live in Iowa. My question is, there was no one at my ceremony to witness my marriage. The lady that performed the ceremony had the certificate signed before she came to perform the ceremony. After speaking with an Iowa attorney he stated that in the state of Iowa the marriage would be void. Would this be true for the state of South Dakota?

That question's more properly directed to an attorney conversant with south dakota law.
