Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
Minor Child Name Change/child support
My son just found out he is father of 10 yr old. Mother gave name of the boyfriend she was with at time of birth he never signed BC and they broke up 2 months after birth. No acknowlegement of paternity is present from x or My son (biological father) & her were never married. Father and Mom are on very friendly terms she has sole custody that will stay the same, but they both agree to change daughters name to his. Mother does not want to pursue any custody or child support they are in agreement with all issues concerning best interest of daughter. Mother concern state may make him pay 10 years back support which she does not wish to pursue. They have worked out their own agreements. She and child live in Iowa, he in AZ child was born in FLA. How should they proceed with name change only?

Re: Minor Child Name Change/child support
She needs to file a petition with notice to all potentially interested parties. If mom ever so much as took a single food stamp or a wic coupon she may not be able to get CSRU to forego any arrearage.
