Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
When I was two months pregnant, the father of my child and I split up. We only dated two months before that. He did not go to any of my doctor appointments and we did not see each other very much. To say the least, we don't get a long very well. He moved in with his mom to save money. I met his mom two times before I ended the relationship with the father of my child. She had no contact with me until I gave her a card after my 5th month ultrasound. After that, she only contacted me a few other times and took me out to talk when I was eight and a half months pregnant. My son is now two and a half weeks old. I let the father come to my house and visit for a couple of hours at a time. Him and his mom keep pushing for me to bring the child over to his house for him to babysit and I do not feel comfortable with that. He also keeps threatening to take me to court for visitation rights. In the court system, what are visitation hours like? How many days does the father usually get to see the child? And typically, what age do overnight visits start?

It's idle to speculate on what visiting hours and conditions might be like unless and until you have a custody and support agreement in place.
