Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Considering a move

I moved out of Iowa to Florida with my kids and my new husband 2 years ago. The move was done legally and with the consent of the biological father. Now that my husband's military career is coming to an end we would like to move back to Iowa. Right now, the kid's biological father has visitation Thanksgiving or Christmas, spring break and 2 weeks during the summer. I would be in the northern Des Moines area and he is in southern Minneapolis. I am worried that he would try to get visitation changed to more often if I were that close and I do not want my kids having to ride that far too often. (They are 7 and 8.) Is that proposed distance close enough where he would have a chance of doing that?

Re: Considering a move

There's no general rule. What's more important is the reason you want to keep the kids away from their father, and how you persuade the court that that is the better view of things.
