Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
My oldest son was not may 9, 2012 in Minnesota, his father and I were together until he was 2 but then split up due to his drug addiction. He had never paid child support or helped support him in any way, even when we were together. He is not in my son's life, partially my call because of his addiction, but also because he was never consistent (asked about him every three months or more). My second son was born Nov 11, 2015. He has multiple medical issues, most serious, some not. His father and I were never officially together. He decided to dip out when I was 6 months pregnant. I tried contacting him a few times after he was born to tell him about his son and show him pictures but had made it very clear he wants nothing to do with him. He doesn't pay child support as well. I have been working with child support recovery for some time but they can't find either to start child support. I want to get all of their parental rights taken away and just wipe my hands of all of it, if something were to happen to me I don't want either one to be able to claim them. Neither are stable and both do drugs. Is it possible to have this achieved?

I think you can have their parental rights terminated under Iowa Code Ch. 600 for abandonment if there's been no contact or sporadic contact. The problem you'll have is that it's not something you can undertake on a self help basis and you'll need to fund the litigation or find someone to take it on pro bono.
