Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

owner ship of car

my daughter and her boyfriend just broke up. they have a child. we live in iowa and he just joined the marines in california. they have a car in both their names. the boyfriends mother was given power of attorney for her son. the bank account had both of their names as well. the mother of the boyfriend states she is coming to take the car. it is not worth much but gets my daugther and grandaughter around. can she legally do this?
