Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
Do I Have to pay back Child Support if said child has not been proven to be mine
I have been disabled all my life. This woman claims that I was the father of her baby which was born in 1980 in Iowa (I am now living in IL.) It has never been proven that the child is mine and I know that it isn't mine. For quite a few years I got letters from Public Aid and court summons. I kept trying to get them to take a test to verify that the child was mine, but this never happened. Finally, after the child is grown, they seem to have dropped it. I have heard that the child was adpoted by the mother's sister when she was about 12. The question is if I would happen to win the lottery or come into a large amount of money some other way, could the state of Iowa come after me for back child support. As I said I am sure that this child isn't mine and no one has ever taken tests to see if it was mine. In fact, I have never seen the child.

If a judgment has been entered against you and no steps have been taken to vacate that judgment then I would expect that it can be collected from you. You do not provide sufficeint information for me to determine if a judgment was in fact entered against you. Ignoring court summons is not wise.
