Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I am in the process of getting a divorce but with no lawyer involved. I am unsure if this is a wise decision. I have 2 children and one of them is autistic. My husband is willing to pay for all of the necessary items that I need in order to stay home with the kids but it will only get me by if there is no emergency ( car breaks down, heater in the house goes out, ect.). I am unsure if this is the wise thing to do: just go to a court house and get a divorce without any lawyers involved. I am able to keep the house but if the house is to be sold then we will split the money and as far as the kids go I believe that I will get full custody. My main question is how long should he have to pay for all three of us so that I am able to stay home to take care of the kids especially my autistic child?

The simple answer is when property, children, and debts are involved you need a lawyer. It will be the cheapest money you will ever spend. If you were a doctor would you operate on your own appendix?
