Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
I have raised a 5 year old since she was one because the father bailed before she was born and her mom and I are getting a divorce but she is now trying to take her from me. What can I do to fight for my step daughter to at least have legal visitations ?

That matter will be addressed by your attorney in the motion on temporary matters that should be filed. Did you adopt the child? If you did not but you all lived together your attorney may be able to argue based on equitable paternity or equitable estoppel. These matters are complicated and not suitable for discussing in a forum like this but if you do not have a family law attorney in your corner you won't be able to pull this off yourself.
