Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Recognized Custody

Our daughter wants to give us shared or temporary custody of her child. Will a noterized agreement be recognized in the courts if there is a custody battle with the child's father? We would like the child to stay with us and not be just given to her father if they are taking the child from our daughter's custody.

Re: Recognized Custody

The short answer is no. Two people cannot conspire to affect the rights of a third not party to the agreement.
