Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
i just got served papers for child support and i havent even signed a avadiate and havent took a swab test to even show that is mine... i know it is. but how do i go about signing my rights over. im now residing in a halfway house and just got out of prision for burgrly on two counts. im not fit to be a parent and i live in iowa and she lives in minnesota. how can they serve me papers in iowa if she lives in minnesota. also i know she wont let me see the baby and due to her living so far away and i know she wont bring him here in iowa which would mean i would have to go get him and i dont have a way to get there to even see my child so whats the point of me having rights as a parent if i cant even see my son...
1 Answer from Attorneys
1. What is an "avadiate"?
2. Swab test-doesn't matter.
3. Abandoning your parental rights is not easily done.
4. Doesn't matter if you're in Iowa and she's somewhere else.
