Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

He keeps stopping divorce

My husband recently filed for divorce and agreed. I have moved to Arizona within the last two months.. Even tho the papers have been filed he says he is gonna delay it as long as he can. I also signed a 90 waiver to speed things up. He has told his lawyer that he wants to delay it. He told me that he will delay it for the next two years if he has too. If i dont sit and talk with him and still be friends. I want this divorce now. What can I do? Can I file for divorce here in Arizona? How long will the Iowa courts let this drag on before it has to be refiled? the big question is can i do it here in Arizona if he keeps delaying it in Iowa? What are my options?

What's keeping you from filing your own action?

Why does he have to do it? You should check with a local attorney and see if you can file where you live. Or, you can file your own Iowa action. It's not a question of the Iowa courts dragging their feet, all they do is what people ask them to do. It's his action and he can dismiss it or it can get dismissed for want of prosecution. If you want to be rid of the fellow you need to press the issue and spend the cash that it is going to take.

I'd suggest hiring an Iowa attorney to get him moving in the right direction.
