Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Support of emancipated child

My son will turn 18, 5/27/07. He will still have one year of high school remaining, but wants to move in with a cousin in another town and finish school there. His mother and I are divorced and I've had physical custody of him and she has been ordered to pay child support to me since 1994. If he carries out his plan and does move out on his own, what is his mother's or my responsibility to him since he is moving voluntarily, is 18 years old, and will not be residing with either parent?

Re: Support of emancipated child

If he has reached the age of majority and is not going on to college neither of you have any responsibility toward him if he chooses to go out on his own.
