Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

visitation with my dad

My parents have never been married and my father made me go through a paternity test to prove I was his when I was small. My mother never doubted he was the father and we went for testing. Since my parents have come to an agreement in visitation rights I have found out my father is a registered sex offender. This has come to my attention since my last visit with my father. I want to know if this fact would have been know before the agreement was signed it he would have been given visitation rights. I will always feel uncomfortable around him now knowing this fact. Is there anything I can tell my mom to do so I do not have to visit him until I feel more comfortable.

I think I have already answered this question posed by another member of your family.

Your mother is the only person who can do anything about this and it requires that she hire a lawyer and go to court to get the visitation order modified.
