Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa
I will try this again. I may not have given enough information the first time. I am divorced and both of my children are adults and even out of college. I am required to pay my ex-wife $125 per month toward her health insurance premium and have done so for 6 yrs. At the time we agreed for me to do this it was my understanding that the $125 was a portion of my ex-wife's monthly premium for our children. I have recently found out that she misled me and that she has or never had a monthly premium because as a full time federal employee her insurance is free. So I have paid her $9000. roughly. Secondly both of my children are over 18, graduated high school and even college and it is my understanding that child support ends at 18 or graduation of high school. My question is the $9000 paid to my ex-wife did not go to what she claimed it should go for and I feel I have been defrauded. Do I have a leg to stand on to take her to court to try to get it back?

The only thing you can do is seek a modification or ending of the custody and support order alleging a change in circumstances. If there is or was no post secondary education subsidy ordered for the kids I would say you have a good argument for not paying her any more support money. As far as getting your nine large back that is a long shot. As always consult a lawyer.
