Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa

called in dui

I went to a local store to buy liquor.apparently an employee of the store saw what he/she considered suspicious activity, driving errantly, they evidently[from what i read in the police report] followed me from the parking lot into the store, observed me in the store, where i picked out and purchased a bottle of liquor, then followed me back to my car and watched me leave. when the police arrived they gave them a discription of the car and the direction in which i left.when i got home, about 8 blocks, three police cars pulled in and i received an owi.is the store libel in any way?is the employee libel in any way? thank you,--name removed---name removed-- e-mail [email protected]

Re: called in dui

Hi,

No the store is not liable for their employee calling the police and reporting what they saw as errant driving. The fact you got an OWI indicates they were correct.
