Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa
My daughter was kicked out by her fiance a short while ago. The wedding is off. We understand we should give back the ring. The question is they had several finacial situations in place which were paid for on his credit card. She had only a minor income during their time together. He now wants money for half of the credit card and loans he took out while they were together. No contracts or paper work involved. Is she obligated? If he sues, what could be the outcome?

The answer to your question is no, she is under no obligation to repay him anything unless there was an agreement that she would. If he sues her, you'll likely be able to get it dismissed. You might inform him that a lawsuit under such circumstances would be frivolous and he could be on the hook for his costs as well as yours in defending it.
