Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa
Where do I file?
I have a friend who borrowed $ 4,500 from me and paid back $ 1,100 of it, and has stopped paying, and has stopped calling and won't return my calls - I sent a certified letter to her and she did return it - she lives in Lenox, Iowa and I live in Johnston, Iowa - which county do I have to file in? where I live or where she lives? and can I do it electronically or over the phone? THANKS!

Re: Where do I file?
You can file in either the county where your friend lives or the county where the contract was made. So if your friend made the agreement with you or picked up the check in the county where you live you can sue her there in small claims court. You will have to go to the court house and file. No electronic filing for lawsuits in state court. Good luck.
