I gave my former girlfriend a diamond necklace just prior to our split. What legal rights do I have in the state of Iowa in regard to having the necklace returned to me?

There is caselaw that would support getting back gifts where they are preceded by a marriage proposal. Depending upon the value of the necklace the case would be filed either in District Court, Associate District Court or Small Claims Court.
