Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa

Am I able to hold someone accountable for damage that happened to my car? They didn't have insurance and backed into our car causing $2800 worth of damage. They didn't have insurance and we were close and so we agreed that they could just pay the deductible for our full coverage insurance instead but now they are dodging us. It's been almost a year! How do we get them to pay for the deductible?

Yes you are. You have made a classic mistake and the offending party will now likely deny he ever hit you. Do you have photographs of both cars? Witnesses? Damage repair estimate?
