Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa

lost truck

i let a friend take over payments on a pick-up i had we kept everything on my name. now i can't find him and he is not making payments. what is my legal stand on this matter, please guide me the right way. i found out i can't report it stolen, and i don't know where he is to serve him with court papers.

How can a truck that isn't the users and who refuses to return it to the owner "lost". Seems stolen to me. Go the County Attorney with a written explanation.
