I need my name off of a mortgage on a house I no longer live in.

The only way to accomplish this is for the loan to be paid off in full. This can be done by selling the property, or the other person refinancing. I hope you did not sign a deed conveying the property to the other person. If so, you no longer own the property, but you still owe the money.

Just wanting your name off of a mortgage isn't enough to scrape it off. To understand why this is consider for a minute that you are the lender and you have two people who signed a mortgage to borrow money to purchase a home. Would you want to reduce by half your ability to collect on the loan if the one person decides not to pay? Probably not and neither will this lender. The only way to accomplish this is to refinance the home.
