Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Iowa
I just have a question about the tolling of the statue of limitations. I know that in many states, the statue doesn't start running for the plaintiff until they reach their 18th birthday. However, what if the minor is the defendant? ie- someone commits a crime when they are 16 and the statue related to that particular crime is 5 years - would an adult plaintiff have 5 years from the time the crime is committed to sue, or would they have 5 years from the time the defendant turns 18? Thank you.

I do not understand your question. The clock starts ticking when the offense is charged.
